SEMINAR ON VOLUNTEER COMPUTING

Asia/Shanghai
Room C305 Main Building (IHEP)

Room C305 Main Building

IHEP

19B Yuquan Road, Shijingshan District, Beijing, 100049 P.R. China
Francois Grey (CERN) , Gang Chen (IHEP)
Description
The objective of the Asia@home seminar is to introduce the technologies underlying volunteer computing to Chinese scientists who may be interested to use volunteer computing as a tool in their future research. The seminar includes lectures by four experts in the field, including leading developers of volunteer computing software as well as scientists who have been applying the technology in fields such as high-energy physics and malaria epidemiology. In addition, topics such as the interfacing of Grid computing and cloud computing with volunteer computing will be addressed. The new trend of “volunteer thinking” projects, where the volunteer does data analysis via a web interface, will also be described. A detailed programme and list of confirmed lecturers is provided below.
