Description

Abstract:

Dark photons have been well motivated as strong candidates for dark force carriers and light dark matter in the sub-GeV mass range. The DarkSHINE has been proposed as electron fixed-target experiment with high repetition rate electron beams from Shanghai SHINE facility. The aim of this experiment is to detect invisible decay of dark photons to light dark matter particles. It takes advantage of using missing momentum to identify signal from background events. In this talk, I will present the prospective study of light dark matter search in the DarkSHINE framework. Additionally, an overview of the current status of DarkSHINE detector R&D will be provided.

About the speaker:

Dr. Kun Liu is a Tsung-Dao Lee Fellow and an Associate Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He graduated from USTC and Sorbonne University in 2014, after which he served as a postdoctoral researcher at CNRS from 2014 to 2019. Dr. Liu has focused on Higgs physics within the ATLAS experiment, with contributions including the discovery of the Higgs boson in di-photon channel and observation of Yukawa coupling of the Higgs boson to the third-generation quarks. Since joining SJTU in 2019, he has been involved in the DarkSHINE experiment R&D, coordinating the simulation&analysis task force and in charge of tracking detector R&D. Dr. Liu served as photon identification sub-group convener in the ATLAS experiment from 2022 to 2024. He was awarded the "ATLAS Thesis Award 2014" and selected by the Young Talents of the National High-Level Talent Special Support Programs.
