The phenomenon of CP violation arises within the Standard Model of particle physics through the CKM mechanism. However, extra sources of CP violation are needed to understand the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. Precision test of CKM matrix is a powerful tool of discovery new CP violation sources, sensitive to mass scales far above those accessible in direct collider searches. In this seminar, I will focus on the key precision measurements of CKM matrix elements in hadron collider and conclude with the future prospects over the coming decade.
Speaker:
Prof. Wenbin Qian is an experimental particle physicist working on the field of quark flavour physics, with a particular interest in searching for physics beyond Standard Model through precision test of CKM matrix.
He obtained his Ph. D degree from Tsinghua University and Universite Paris 11 in year 2010, and continued his research activities in Syracuse University, IN2P3 laboratory in Annecy (LAPP), University of Oxford and University of Warwick from year 2010 to year 2017.
He is currently an associated professor in University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Wenbin Qian is a member of the LHCb, BESIII and CKMFitter collaborations.
He is serving as the convener of one of the LHCb main physics working group, focusing on CPV measurements in charmless b decays.
