Description

摘要:Neutrinos have been serving as harbinger of new physics since its conception at the beginning of 20th century and are still playing the same role even nowadays. In this lecture, I will first briefly introduce the history of neutrino physics and its role played in the building of Standard Model. Although the neutrino masses used to explain the observed oscillation phenomena are negligibly tiny, they have much more important consequence of allowing CP violation in the leptonic sector as well as using leptogenesis to realize the very existence of matter-antimatter asymmetry and subsequently the whole matter world that we are living in. With a nonzero theta13 mixing angle observed at the Daya Bay experiment and a 125GeV Higgs boson at LHC, both incidents in the same year of 2012, a new era of precision neutrino study heads the possible measurement of the leptonic Dirac CP phase and other possible new physics scenarios. Neutrino physics is not just the first place to observe new physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics, but probably holds the ultimate key of fully understanding our Universe.
