Understanding the asymptotic high-energy behavior of hadron-hadron total cross sections is one of the most challenging open problems in strong interaction physics. The optical theorem connects the hadron-hadron total cross sections to the hadron-hadron elastic scattering amplitudes at low transferred momentum, which is usually called the high-energy soft scattering processes. We calculate, from first principles, the Euclidean correlation functions of certain Wilson loops that can be used to reconstruct the meson-meson elastic scattering amplitudes in a functional-integral approach, and compare our results with some models. Besides, in the light of the crossing-symmetry property of the loop-loop correlation functions, an odderon exchange is clearly observed in the high-energy soft interaction of two quark dipoles.
