Surgery Construction for 3d Theories

Description

Abelian 3d N=2 theories have various dualities and mixed Chern-Simons levels, which in principle can be engineered by plumbing three-manifolds. However, matter fields have not been geometrically realized in literature. In this talk, we discuss how to extend this construction by adding Ooguri-Vafa defects on the tangent bundles of three-manifolds, which could lead to matters. One can then find a precise dictionary between three-manifolds and gauge theories.


Bio: Shi Cheng is a postdoc in Fudan University. He obtained his PhD from University of Warsaw in 2022. His recent research interest is the geometric engineering of 3d N=2 theories and brane webs.
