ChPT prediction of neutrino-nucleon scattering cross sections

Description

Neutrino-nucleon scattering has been investigated in manifestly relativistic baryon chiral perturbation theory up to leading one-loop order. For weak pion production, the Δ(1232) resonances are included as explicit degrees of freedom. At low energies, where chiral perturbation theory is applicable, the total cross sections for the different reaction channels exhibit a sizable non-resonant contribution, which is not present in event generators of broad use in neutrino oscillation and cross section experiments such as GENIE and NuWro. The present study provides a well-founded low-energy benchmark for phenomenological models aimed at the description of (quasi-)elastic scattering and weak pion production processes in the broad kinematic range of interest for current and future neutrino-oscillation experiments.

Bio:
姚德良,湖南大学物理与微电子学院教授。2008年本科毕业于北京师范大学;2013年于北京大学获博士学位;2013年至2016年,在德国Juelich研究中心做博士后;2016年至2018年,在西班牙国家研究委员会与瓦伦西亚大学下属IFIC研究所做博士后。2018年至2019年,在中科学近物所任研究员;2019年至今在湖南大学任教授。研究方向主要是利用有效场论(特别是手征微扰理论)与色散关系研究强子物理和核物理。
