Description

Abstract:
Vinca Institute of Nuclear Science, University of Belgrade, is an active group in the CMS experiment at CERN for over two decades.  I will review the group’s activity in physics analysis with the proton-proton collisions and the heavy-ion collisions, as well as the contributions to detector development for the Phase2 Upgrade of the CMS Level-1 Trigger.  Finally, I will describe the newly started effort of establishing the Tier-1 center for the World LHC Computing Grid in Serbia.

About the speaker:

Ph.D. at University oVladimir Reković za NIN: Srbija mora da preispita svoj stav o eksploatisanju nuklearne energijef New Mexico, working on the CDF detector on Tevatron in Fermilab. In the early career, he searched for Supersymmetry and worked on the muon detector. After coming to CMS in 2007, he transitioned to EWK physics measurements (differential cross section of Z->ee) that helped constrain PDFs as important inputs to LHC measurements.  While developing High Level Triggers for the physics program of CMS for the LHC start-up, he joined the CMS Higgs working group. He was one of the drivers of the Higgs to 2 photon analysis and one of the drivers of the Higgs discovery with the LHC.  He performed the first VBF analysis (in 2 photon channel) that indicated an independent data access at 125 GeV which opened a quick road to Higgs discovery in the following months in 2012. Developed the first multidimensional analysis on hadron collider searching for Fermiophobic Higgs.  Joined CMS Level-1 Trigger group and served as one of the conveners since 2016. He leads the Vinca Institute of Nuclear Science group in CMS. With his team he actively participates in the Phase-2 Upgrade of the Level-1 Trigger preparing the detector for HL-LHC developing the hardware and preparing future physics analysis.  He is the main architect of the Serbian WLCG Tier-1 in Serbia which will establish the first scientific computing center of the highest degree in the country.
