Description

Abstract:

The ATLAS detector is being upgraded to handle the harsher environment of the HL-LHC. In particular, the current Inner Detector will be replaced by a new all-silicon Inner Tracker (ITk). The ITk will consist of a pixel detector surrounded by a strip detector, with approximately 10,000 pixel modules designed for specific detector regions and 18,000 strip detector modules split between the central barrel (11,000) and end-cap (7,000) regions. Most module components, including sensors, front-end ASICs, and hybrid flexes, have entered the production phase while module assembly is ongoing. This presentation will provide an update on the progress of ATLAS ITk pixel and strip module construction, highlighting the key challenges that lies ahead as production gets underway.

About the speaker:

Dr. Teoh earned his Ph.D. in Experimental HEP from the Osaka University, Japan, in 2017. Following his doctoral studies, he joined the National Institute for Subatomic Physics (Nikhef) in the Netherlands as a postdoctoral researcher, during which he led efforts to develop a next-gen data acquisition system for the ATLAS ITk-Strip detector. In 2021, Dr. Teoh joined the University of Toronto as a postdoctoral researcher, focusing on the construction and quality control of ITk-Strip endcap detector modules. Beyond detector development, Dr. Teoh actively engages in BSM physics searches using ATLAS data. His research focuses on probing dark matter production in association with a Higgs boson and exploring new phenomena in di-jet final states, including angular distribution analyses.
