Experimental overview of CP violation in heavy flavor decays

Abstract:

CP violation in heavy flavor decays may offer insights into the mystery of matter-antimatter asymmetry in the Universe and provide sensitive probes for physics beyond the Standard Model.  This talk gives an overview of the recent CP violation measurements in beauty and charm decays. Emphasis is placed on the LHCb experimentat the forefront of heavy flavor physics, highlighting its high-precision measurements of the CKM phases, deep exploration of the strange beauty meson system, and first evidences for CP violation in beauty baryon decays and beauty to charmonium decays. The synergy between the LHCb, BELLE II and BESIII experiments is also discussed.

About the speaker:

Yuehong Xie is a professor at Central China Normal University (CCNU). After obtaining his Ph.D. from IHEP in 1998,  he has since worked at the Italian National Laboratory at Frascati, CERN and University of Edinburgh, before joining CCNU in 2013.  He has participated in the BES and BaBar experiments and is currently a member of the LHCb and BESIII collaborations. His main research direction is heavy flavor physics experiments, with particular focus on CP violation in b-hadron decays, searches for new physics in rare decays, and statistical methods for data analysis.
