Understanding Symmetry Breaking with Gravitational Waves

报告摘要:Symmetry breaking in the early universe is realized through a phase transition at the cosmological scale, with possible byproducts of topological solitons such as cosmic strings, which are major sources of gravitational waves that particle physics can offer. Determining, detecting and measuring precisely such gravitational waves can help understand the underlying fundamental physics, a topic that I will discuss in this talk.

个人简介: 郭怀珂,中国科学院大学国际理论物理中心(亚太地区)副教授,地面引力波实验LIGO科学合作组织国科大组负责人。2016在马萨诸塞大学阿默斯特分校获博士学位,之后分别在中科院理论物理研究所、俄克拉荷马大学、犹他大学从事博士后研究工作,2023年入职中国科学院大学。主要从事引力波探测和相关基本科学问题的研究。
