Description

The Universe might undergo multiple phase transitions. Non-equilibrium processes in strong first-order phase transitions potentially leave observable footprints e.g. in the spectrum of gravitational waves (GW). Conformal field theory (CFT) has been recognized as a plausible candidate for inducing strong first-order phase transitions, but discussions have been based on a 5D setup without a concrete 4D model of CFT. In this talk, we introduce a 4D supersymmetric QCD in conformal window with a marginally relevant deformation that triggers the spontaneous breaking of (approximate) scale invariance. By analyzing the finite temperature system, we show that the phase transition associated with the breaking of conformal invariance is of the strong first-order. We also estimate the amount of GWs from the phase transition to discuss the possibility of detection in future observations.
