In this talk, we revisit the 11D bulk construction of Ramond-Ramond (RR) fields in 10D Type I string theory, a standard approach for describing self-dual fields. The bulk theory is formulated using differential KO theory capturing both perturbative and topological information. We present an 11D action that encodes the 10D RR fields in Type I string theory, which reproduces the Green-Schwarz anomaly cancellation in 10D. Our analysis naturally extends to Sugimoto Type I' string and Sagnotti's U(32) string.

Hao Y. Zhang is a postdoctoral scholar at Kavli IPMU since Oct. 2023, and he obtained his Ph.D. from University of Pennsylvania during 2018-2023. His research interests are symmetries and anomalies in string theory and strongly-coupled QFTs.
