Crime Scene Investigation at JUNO

Asia/Shanghai
Description

Abstract

“Crime Scene Investigation” at JUNO is crucial, since it is the foundation of any physics analysis. It is also interesting because you have to look closely into every detail, be creative and use any tools possible to solve a particular problem. At the same time it is rather challenging for the world’s largest homogeneous liquid scintillator detector, given the limited information and stringent requirements. In this talk, a brief overview of the event reconstruction in JUNO will be presented, which covers both the MeV and GeV regions, and includes traditional as well as novel methods.

Self introduction

Dr. Wuming Luo obtained his PhD from University of Notre Dame, and later on worked as a postDoc at Ohio State University. His main research interest focused on the Top Quark and Higgs Boson at the CMS experiment, he was also one of the leaders of the ttH(bb) group at CMS. After 8 years of consolidating the Standard Model, he has decided to switch gear and explore the physics beyond the SM, particularly those massive yet elusive neutrinos. He joined IHEP and the JUNO experiment in 2018. He is now the co-convenor of the Reconstruction Analysis Foundation Group of the JUNO experiment, and is also interested in any experimental techniques and physics that’s beyond the original design of JUNO
