Title: Superconducting Cloud Chamber
Abstract: This talk introduces a novel theoretical concept for a particle track detector composed of superconducting Josephson junctions. Due to its extremely low energy threshold, it can be used to detect slowly moving charged particles as well as ultraheavy millicharged dark matter. The presentation will cover some basics of particle physics, dark matter, and superconductivity.
Personal introduction: Jie Sheng graduated from the Department of Physics at Jilin University. He is currently a Ph.D. student at the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute of Shanghai Jiaotong University and will begin postdoctoral work at Kavli IPMU, University of Tokyo in September. His research interests include phenomenology of dark matter and the crossover study of quantum and high energy physics.
