摘要:It is well established that the Universe underwent an inflationary epoch prior to the hot Big Bang, during which the expansion accelerated. To achieve this and to resolve shortcomings of the standard Big Bang model, inflation must encompass roughly 40–60 e-folds of expansion. After a brief, pedagogical introduction to inflation, I will argue that cosmological phase transitions during the inflationary era are well motivated. I will also show that such transitions can generate a range of potentially observable signatures—including stochastic gravitational waves, primordial black holes, and primordial non-Gaussianity—that may be within reach of near-future observations.
