Title: First Constraint on the Dimensionless Axion-Photon Coupling from Neutron Star Observations
Abstract: The axion is a well-motivated hypothetical particle proposed to resolve the strong CP problem and serves as a promising dark matter candidate. Most current searches rely on signals proportional to the inverse of the axion decay constant ($1/f_a$), which are naturally suppressed for high-scale theoretical models. In this talk, I will propose a conceptually novel detection strategy that circumvents this suppression by utilizing the extreme environment of neutron stars.
