Oral Presentation 10: PID & Emerging Technologies PID & Emerging Technologies

Speaker

Alexander Barnyakov (Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics)

Description

Aerogel is unique material with refractive index between gaseous and liquids. Due to this circumstance highly transparent aerogels are good candidates for Cherenkov radiators in RICH detectors. There are several HEP projects required excellent PID performance in the world. For some of them RICH detectors based on aerogel produced in Novosibirsk were proposed by BINP team. Among them FARICH (Focusing Aerogel RICH) system for the SPD experiment at the NICA collider (JINR, Dubna), FARICH for the SPSCHARM experiment at the U-70 accelerator (IHEP, Protvino) and end-cap FARICH for the CEPC experiment as well.
Description of the main features and parameters of the proposed PID systems are given. Recent status of R&Ds are presented including progress of aerogel production, beam test activity results and position-sensitive MCP PMT development.
