Description
DIRAC has long served as a key middleware solution for distributed computing in high‑energy physics. Since 2012, IHEP has operated a DIRAC‑based system for BESIII, and has since extended it to support CEPC Monte Carlo production and JUNO data processing, maintaining a stable job success rate of over 95%. The platform offers integrated workload and data management, supporting heterogeneous resources—including HTC, HPC, and cloud infrastructure—across multiple international sites.
After 15 years of evolution, the DIRAC Consortium has undertaken DiracX, a cloud‑native, RESTful reimplementation built on Kubernetes, OpenSearch, and S3 storage. DiracX adopts OAuth2/OpenID Connect for token‑based authentication, replacing the legacy X509/VOMS model. As of 2026, DiracX has reached production readiness, with key use cases validated by LHCb, and integrates the Common Workflow Language (CWL) to enable portable and reproducible workflows—of particular relevance to CEPC’s future computing needs.
This presentation will provide an overview of the current status of the DIRAC project and the recent progress of DiracX.
