Description

The international DRD4 Collaboration was established in early 2024 in response to the ECFA Detector R&D Roadmap. Based at CERN, it brings together research on photodetector technologies and particle identification techniques for future high-energy physics experiments and facilities. Its programme also includes scintillating fibre tracking and transition radiation detectors using solid-state X-ray sensors. This presentation will briefly outline DRD4’s scientific scope and organisation, examine its strategic role in the future of high-energy physics, and discuss the main technological challenges ahead.
