Over the past several decades, fundamental research in strong-interaction spin physics in China has steadily advanced. Since the late twentieth century, significant progress has been achieved in both theoretical and experimental studies of nucleon spin structure. Chinese researchers have actively participated in major international collaborations such as HERMES, JLab, and RHIC. In recent years, the global polarization effect in heavy-ion collisions—originally proposed by Chinese physicists—has been experimentally confirmed at several facilities including RHIC, the LHC, and SIS18. These observations have opened a new research direction in spin physics in heavy-ion collisions, which has since developed rapidly. With continued progress in both physics studies and experimental techniques, research on strong-interaction spin physics in China has entered a new stage of development. In order to further promote communication and collaboration in this field, it has been proposed to initiate a domestic conference series entitled “Conference on Strong-interaction Spin Physics.”
The first meeting of this series will be held in Qingdao, China, from July 27 to July 30, 2026, with registration on July 26. The conference will cover the following topics:
-
Proton spin structure and form factors
-
Three-dimensional nucleon structure and fragmentation functions
-
Spin physics in heavy-ion collisions
-
Polarized beams and targets
-
Future facilities
