The ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk) is being produced and qualified for operation at the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), where it will provide precise tracking performance under the challenging radiation and occupancy conditions expected during the high-luminosity upgrade. The ITk strip detector comprises silicon microstrip sensors and dedicated front-end electronics designed to provide accurate measurements of charged-particle trajectories over a large area.
As the ITk strip detector moves into large-scale production, several novel technical challenges have emerged, requiring extensive studies and validation to ensure reliable detector performance and production readiness. This talk will present the ITk strip test-beam program and highlight results addressing these technical challenges, together with studies of detector performance under different operating conditions. The test-beam program has also evolved alongside the project, with the setup being upgraded to accommodate large-scale ITk strip petals and to enable comprehensive tests of the full detector data-acquisition chain. The latest progress and results from these developments will be presented, demonstrating the role of test-beam studies in the qualification and commissioning of the ITk strip detector.
