DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Hesheng CHEN (IHEP\,Beijing)\nSino-German Forum on N
eutron Scattering in Engineering Materials & Tutorial on Neutron Whole Dif
fraction Profile Fitting\n\nThis forum and course\, jointly funded by the
National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) and the German Researc
h Foundation (DFG) under the Sino-German "Mobility Programme\," focuses on
bilateral academic exchanges between the engineering materials diffractom
eter teams of the MLZ Neutron Source in Germany and the China Spallation N
eutron Source (CSNS). It is scheduled to be held in Dongguan\, Guangdong P
 rovince\, from September 14 to 18\, 2026.\n\nNeutron scattering\, as one
of the key technologies for non-destructive characterization\, can resolve
the internal atomic structure and residual stress of engineering material
s\, and is widely used in the research and development of advanced materia
ls in aerospace\, rail transportation metals\, energy storage\, supercondu
ctivity\, etc. MLZ in Germany is a world-leading high-flux neutron researc
h platform\, while the CSNS is the first pulsed spallation neutron source
in China. Both institutions have long time cooperations on residual stress
  measurement and it’s standardization\, instrumentations\, data analysis
\, and regular academic seminars to train young researchers.\n\nThe event
consists of two sessions. The first is the Sino-German Expert Forum\, brin
ging together distinguished experts from MLZ Research Center (Germany)\, E
ötvös Loránd University (Hungary) and the China Spallation Neutron Sour
ce. Participants will exchange insights on the applications of various neu
tron techniques in engineering materials and discuss long-term multi-disci
plinary and multi-level Sino-German cooperation frameworks for the future.
\n\nThe second is a dedicated training course on neutron full diffraction
profile fitting\, lectured by Prof. Tamás Ungár and Gábor Ribárik\, t
he originators of the CMWP method. The lectures will systematically elabor
ate theoretical models of diffraction peak profiles and crystal defects\,
paired with one-on-one hands-on software training using measured neutron d
iffraction datasets\, delivering practical tutorials for quantitative char
acterization of microstructural defects in metallic materials\, such as di
slocations\, stacking faults and twins.\n\nContact:\n\nFor enquiries about
