Description

I discuss theoretical issues with constructing effective theories of gauged chiral symmetries, taking a quark-universal U(1)_B symmetry as an example.  I will review the phenomenology of the Z-Z’-photon vertex and point out novelties regarding a non-renormalization theorem and connections to electroweak loop calculations and dimensional regularization.  I also present the collider signatures from the exotic scalar sector and the characteristic nature of
non-decoupling chiral matter.

Felix Yu is a theoretical particle physicist and group leader in Theoretical High Energy Physics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. His research focuses on physics beyond the Standard Model, including new $U(1)$ gauge symmetries, collider phenomenology, Higgs physics, dark sectors, axions and axion-like particles, CP violation, and flavor physics. He received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of California, Irvine, and his B.A. in Physics and Mathematics from Harvard University. Before joining Mainz, he was a Research Associate in the Theoretical Physics Department at Fermilab. His work connects quantum-field-theoretic and model-building questions with experimental searches at the LHC and other precision experiments.
