Inside Black Holes: From Critical Phenomena to Beyond Kasner Dynamics

Description

The interior of black holes offers a unique window into extreme gravity. I will present two recent studies revealing novel structures near singularities. First, in Einstein–Maxwell–scalar theory, spontaneously scalarized black holes lack a smooth inner horizon; instead, the interior collapses into a Kasner singularity with a universal scaling relation. Second, with higher-curvature corrections, we identify three distinct near-singularity regimes: modified Kasner eons, persistent oscillations, and growing spikes—all beyond classical predictions. These findings uncover unexpected order and universality inside black holes, offering fresh insights into spacetime singularities and quantum gravity.

Biography:
Li Li is a Full Professor at the Institute of Theoretical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ITP,CAS). He also holds a professorship at the School of Fundamental Physics and Mathematical Sciences, Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Study, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS). He received his Ph.D. from ITP, CAS in 2014. From 2014 to 2019, he held postdoctoral positions at the University of Crete in Greece and Lehigh University in the United States. His research focuses on gravitational theories, black hole physics, and gauge/gravity duality. He has published more than 80 papers in leading international journals and has led several national-level research projects. He currently serves as Secretary-General of the Division of Gravitation and Relativistic Astrophysics of the Chinese Physical Society. He is also a member of the editorial boards of Communications in Theoretical Physics and Symmetry, as well as a Young Editorial Board Member of SCIENCE CHINA Physics, Mechanics & Astronomy. In 2023, he was awarded the Chen Ning Yang Award by the Association of Asia Pacific Physical Societies and the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (AAPPS-APCTP).
