Recent DESI data motivates the consideration of models in which dark matter interacts with dark energy. I will identify the difficulties in writing down such models, and identify a class of possible natural models.

LianTao Wang is a Professor of Physics at the University of Chicago and a member of the Enrico Fermi Institute and the Kavli Institute for Cosmological Physics. He received his B.S. from Fudan University in 1995 and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in 2002. After postdoctoral appointments at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and Harvard University, he joined the faculty at Princeton University in 2006 and moved to the University of Chicago in 2011. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society. His research focuses on theoretical particle physics, particularly Higgs physics, dark matter, physics beyond the Standard Model, and the early universe.
