The 2nd Joint JUNO LS phone meeting

Asia/Shanghai
3#208

3#208

1) Wei reported the update measurements of radioactive purification. When LAB had been distilled by Al2O3, the radioactive materials decreased 99.98% and the purification coefficient was 5424.

2) Boxiang reported the progress of LAB optical purification by Al2O3. There were 14 samples had been measured their attenuation lengths while the attenuation lengths measurements for the first 4 sample were chosen as calibrations for the attenuation measurement system. The attenuation lengths for LAB distilled by Al2O3 were better than those for LAB purified by vacuum distillation.

Paolo: How many companies did the samples of LAB come from?

Boxiang: The samples came from 2 companies which were Nanjin Jinlin and Nanjin Jingtong companies.

Tao: The details could be found in Page 3.

Li: We would measure the spanish samples next week.

3) Yayun reported the progress of JUNO LS CDR.

Tao: We have finished the Chinese version of CDR and translated it in English. When we got the full English version LS CDR, we would sent it to you (Paolo et al.).

Paolo: Why would we use DYB AD for LS purification?

Yayun: By purifying LS in DYB AD, we could test the effects of purification. And other guys could do analysis on AD.

Li: We could check the results of purification. And we could use DYB AD detector for data analysis after distillations. The DYB AD would be a middle-size derive to test the purification while the JUNO detector would be the big-size one.

Paolo: Question for the first (Wei’s) report. The radioactive materials decreased 99.98% (see page 20 in Wei’s report) while the number is 99.4% or 99.6% in CDR (see page 9 in Yayun’s report).

Wei: The 99.4% was coming from the method by Al2O3. The 99.98% was the newest results while the LS CDR was written one month ago.

Q: For the specific section of LS in the coming collaboration meeting, what kind of talks would given by italian groups?

A: We would give one talk about vacuum distillation and anther talk about the distillations for LAB from different companies. So we would give 2 or 3 talks. The Germany group would give one talk. We would send the details by email.

Q: Could you come on Sunday, i. e. July 27?

A: We will arrive on Sunday morning so that we can discuss on Sunday.

Li: Could you give us an introduction about Nitrogen stripping and water extraction?

A: We’ll sent the email to you.
