Search for the QCD Critical Point : Fluctuations of Conserved Quantities in Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collisions at RHIC

摘要: 

Experimental confirmation of the QCD critical point is an excellent test of QCD theory in the non-perturbative region and a landmark of exploring the QCD phase structure. 
It is one of the main goals of the RHIC Beam Energy Scan (BES) program. Fluctuations of conserved quantities, such as baryon, electric charge and strangeness numbers are sensitive observables  
in relativistic heavy-ion collisions to probe the QCD phase transition and search for the QCD critical point. The STAR experiment has measured the fluctuations of net-proton (proxy for net-baryon (B)),net-kaon (proxy for net-strangeness (S)), and net-charge (Q). These measurements are important for understanding the phase structure of the quark matter at finite baryon chemical potential and temperature. In this seminar, I will present the cumulants of the net-proton, net-kaon and net-charge multiplicity distributions from the first phase of the Beam Energy Scan program at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC).  The corresponding physics implications and future plan will be discussed.


个人简介:
罗晓峰,华中师范大学、粒子物理研究所副教授。
中国科大近代物理系本科、博士毕业。2009年至2011年,攻读博士学位期间在美国劳伦斯伯克利实验室联合培养,参与STAR实验,一直致力于高能重离子碰撞中守恒荷涨落以及寻找QCD临界点的实验研究,首次观测到净质子数四阶涨落对碰撞能量的非单调依赖, 为寻找QCD临界点提供重要实验依据,以主要作者发表PRL两篇,2011年与合作者确定出强相互作用物质的相变温度,成果在Science发表,被英国科学网站《Physics World》评为“2011年度国际物理十大突破”。 2012年获得中国物理学会“晨光杯”青年论文一等奖。先后在美国劳伦斯伯克利国家实验室,美国布鲁克海文国家实验室,加州大学洛杉矶分校,日本筑波大学交流访问。被邀请在重要国际会议上作大会邀请报告10余次,其中2015年在日本神户Quark Matter国际会议做大会特邀报告。发表论文30余篇,其中Science 1篇,PRL 2 篇。
