Description
“Searches for long-lived particles”. "With new physics not having been discovered yet at LHC, the particle-physics community must expand the search to new signatures and new regions of model space. An approach that is receiving increasing interest is that of new physics that contains weakly interacting, long-lived particles. The visibly displaced vertex originating from the decay of such a particle is a powerful tool for suppressing background. I will present such searches conducted at ATLAS and BaBar and discuss options and plans for the future.” CV Education 1991 – 1998: PhD in high energy physics, Cornell University. 1988 – 1991: BSc in physics, Technion (Summa Cum Laude) Academic positions Since 2015: Full professor, Tel Aviv University 2006 – 2015: Associate professor, Tel Aviv University 2011 – 2012: Visiting scientist, SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, Stanford University. 2002 – 2006: Researcher II, Colorado State University 1998 – 2002: Postdoctoral fellow, Colorado State University
