Description
We discuss various low-energy precision tests of the Standard Model presently carried out by scientists of the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz. This includes measurements of the proton radius, meson form factor measurements relevant for the hadronic contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon, $(g-2)_\mu$, and searches for Dark Photons. The work is carried out at the local high-intensity electron accelerator MAMI (Mainz Microtron) as well as at the BES III experiment in Beijing. Moreover, we also present future opportunities for precision physics at the high-intensity electron accelerator MESA (Mainz Energy-recovering Superconducting Accelerator), which is currently under construction in Mainz.
