Description
Abstract: Borexino is a pioneering experiment to probe solar models and neutrino oscillation matter effects with its precision measurement of solar neutrino fluxes. It is also leading a significant effort toward CNO neutrino detection. Its main challenge is achieving an ultra-low background and disentangling correlated backgrounds with high precision. The latter requires a deep understanding of the detector response. To meet this requirement a systematic characterization of Borexino detector response has been developed. Moreover, we developed a new analysis tool accelerated by recent parallel processors. It runs 2000 times faster and enables advanced multi-observable analysis to further improve precision. A method which will significantly improve CNO neutrino detection sensitivity will also be presented. About the speaker: Mr. Ding is currently a last-year PHD student in the Astro-particle physics unit at Gran Sasso Science Institute, L’Aquila, Italy, and is expected to defense his thesis this December. His PHD thesis is about the precision measurement of solar neutrino flux with Borexino experiment and physics potential of JUNO experiment. He has measured the fluorescence quantum efficiency of PPO and bisMSB in an extended wavelengthes range during his master at IHEP, then he came to GSSI to pursue the PHD degree. In the recent released Borexino Phase-II solar neutrino analysis, he has accomplished the optimization of detector response modeling and estimation of corresponding systematics, as well as the evaluation of sensitivity of CNO solar neutrinos.
