Quantum gravity is a direction of research where we are trying to reconcile general relativity explaining large scale phenomenas with laws of quantum mechanics. Currently there are many approaches to QG. Perturbative quantum gravity is one such approach and is also the oldest among all the approaches that are practiced today. In this approach one uses the known and tested methods of Quantum Field Theory (QFT) to study theories of gravity. This framework allows us to probe the ultra high energy issues of gravity using the methodology of renormalisation group, and explore the infrared physics in the context of cosmology. This talk is based on some of my ongoing work in the direction of perturbative quantum gravity and cosmology.
