Description
Abstract: Production of electroweak gauge boson pairs at the LHC can
be used to examine the gauge structure of the Standard Model, with
experimental measurements sensitive to theoretical predictions beyond
leading order calculations. Inclusive production of gauge boson pairs
is used to study triple gauge boson self-couplings and to search for
new physics phenomena. Production of boson pairs via Vector Boson
Scattering processes involves quartic gauge couplings and is sensitive
to precise cancellations among various perturbative contributions,
including those from the Higgs boson. This presentation will discuss
most recent studies of electroweak boson pairs by the ATLAS
collaboration, including observation of the electroweak production of
same sign W boson pairs.
