Abstract:
CERN is well known for its large and diverse complex of high energy particle accelerators operating now for more than 60 years. Radiation protection is an important safety aspect for the operation of these installations and their experimental areas. The speaker will present the radiation protection structure set up at CERN: the regulatory framework, the mandate and competencies of the CERN radiation protection group. A few selected projects will be shown to illustrate current and future challenges in radiation protection at CERN.
