Description

Probing the critical point with light nuclei production

Speaker: Dr. Kaijia Sun (Texas A&M University)

Time: Oct 20(Tuesday) 10:00am (New York), 7:00am (San Fransisco), 4:00pm (Frankfurt) 7:30pm(New Delhi), 10:00pm (Beijing), 11:00pm (Tokyo)

Abstract: Locating the possible critical (end-)point (CEP), characterized by a diverging density-density correlation length, in the phase diagram of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) through the Beam Energy Scan (BES) program at RHIC is one of the main goals in high-energy nuclear physics. Besides the non-Gaussian fluctuation of net-protons, the light nuclei production has long been suggested as a good observable. In this talk, I will discuss different production mechanisms of light clusters in high-energy nucleus collisions.  In particular, I will present our recent progress about the QCD criticality on light nuclei production. Moreover, I will discuss the effects of first-order QCD phase transition on the light nuclei production within a transport approach.  Our results suggest that  the  non-monotonic behavior of the yield ratio tp/d^2 in its collision energy dependence is closely related to the non-smooth QCD phase transitions, therefore, it can be used to locate the critical point in QCD phase diagram in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.
