On-line seminar series II on “RHIC Beam Energy Scan: Theory and Experiment” 2021

Asia/Shanghai
Description

Extracting the diffusivity of the QGP

Speaker: Scott Pratt (Michigan State Univ.)

Time: May 25(Tuesday)  6:00am (San Fransisco), 9:00am (New York), 3:00pm (Frankfurt), 6:30pm(New Delhi), 9:00pm (Beijing), 10:00pm (Tokyo)

Abstract:

The diffusivity of light quarks represents a fundamental transport coefficient. One can infer the diffusivity through the analysis of correlations driven by charge conservation, but it requires detailed modeling, both of the mechanism for charge production and of diffusion throughout the collision. I will review progress in the theory and modeling of both production and diffusion, and show how comparisons with experiment are beginning to constrain the diffusion. I will conclude with describing the bright outlook for progress.
