The spin-orbit interaction plays important roles in many subjects of physics, such as the spintronics including the Dirac and Weyl semimetals in condensed matter, the quantum optics, high-energy particle physics and nuclear physics. The relativistic heavy ion experiments performed at RHIC and LHC created the most vortical and perfect fluid in nature, which can future lead to the spin polarization of spinning hadrons such as Lambda hyperons through spin-orbit interaction. We developed a transport model of chiral quarks to study the spin polarization phenomena in heavy ion collisions. Our studies on the global and local spin polarizations as well as the spin evolution in hadronic phase show the complex dynamics of spin in QGP and the peculiar evolution of axial charge density.
Brief Introduction:
Yifeng Sun received his Ph.D. degree at Texas A&M University in 2017 and has worked as a postdoc in Texas A&M University, INFN Southern National Laboratory and University of Catania from 2018-2021. In 2022 he joined School of Physics and Astronomy at Shanghai Jiao Tong University as a tenure-track associate professor. His research interests covered many areas of heavy ion physics mainly on the anomalous transport phenomena emergent in QGP induced by the strong magnetic and vorticity fields and finding ways to probe these strong fields.
