F-theory provides a global and nonperturbative geometric framework for analyzing a large part of the supersymmetric string landscape. This talk will introduce the ideas of F-theory and how the observed Standard Model of particle physics may fit into this framework naturally.

Washington Taylor is a Professor of theoretical Physics at MIT. He has made contributions to our understanding of various approaches to fundamental issues in string theory; over the last decade his work has focused largely on developing the geometric framework of F-theory and understanding constraints from string theory on low-energy solutions and observed physics.
