Dear colleagues,

Here we are pleased to announce the workshop entitled “Unveiling the Dynamic and Energetic Universe with Insight-HXMT for Six Years and Beyond”, Jan. 22-27, 2024, in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China.

Insight-HXMT is China’s 1st X-ray astronomy satellite and was launched on 15 June 2017. Insight-HXMT consists of three collimated telescopes, namely, HE (20-250 keV), ME (5-30 keV), and LE (1-15 keV). The core sciences of the Insight-HXMT include Galactic plane monitoring of variable sources, pointed observations on BH and NS XRB systems in their bright or outburst phases, all-sky monitoring of GRBs, etc.

It has been six years since Insight-HXMT was commissioned in January 2018, with about 200 publications on exploring the dynamic and energetic universe. A number of exciting scientific results have been obtained, such as the first identification of an X-ray burst from a magnetar as the counterpart of FRB200428, the discovery of an accelerating and precessing jet via QPO detection and the spectral measurement in a broad energy band, the first evidence of observing a MAD via monitoring a complete magnetic transfer in accretion flow, the record-breaking discovery of the fundamental CRSF with the highest energy, detection of the brightest GRB in history, etc. Insight-HXMT is still operating in orbit normally and is expected to continue its scientific operation for several more years.

This Insight-HXMT science workshop will cover scientific results with and related to Insight-HXMT, outlooks on joint Insight-HXMT observations with the soon-to-be-launched EP and SVOM, as well as some near-term and proposed future space high astrophysics missions. The workshop will be held during January 22-27 2024, with on-site registration on January 22 and departure on January 27. The registration fee is CNY 2500 for senior scholars and CNY 2000 for students before November 30, 2023. The workshop will be hosted by Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) located in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China.

SYSU is a Chinese top-tier university, which has five campuses in three cities (Guangzhou, Zhuhai, and Shenzhen). The School of Physics and Astronomy is situated in Zhuhai, a beautiful seashore town next to Macau. The school is committed to cutting-edge research of the highest quality in astrophysics, cosmology, gravitation, quantum physics, space science, and theoretical physics.

The online registration and abstract submission will start on 12 October 2023 and end on 30 November 2023.

We look forward to seeing you in Zhuhai at this exciting event.
