Precision Study of Gluon Saturation

The phenomenon of gluon saturation, described by the Color Glass Condensate (CGC) formalism, is one of the most intriguing topics in high-energy physics. It offers insight into the behavior of ultra-dense matter at extremely high energies and could help us better understand the dynamics of QCD. In high-energy hadrons, the density of gluons can become so high that they start interacting with each other in non-linear ways, resulting in saturation. Studying gluon saturation requires combining both experimental observations and theoretical computations. 

In this talk, after an introduction, I will review the recent progress made in this field and compare the experimental results and theoretical approaches. In particular, our recent NLO calculation significantly improves the stability of the CGC calculation for forward rapidity hadron production in pp and proton-nucleus collisions by incorporating threshold resummation in CGC. It also provides reliable descriptions of all existing data collected at RHIC and the LHC. Finally, I will present the outlook for the study of gluon saturation in the era of the upcoming Electron-Ion Collider.

个人简介:肖博文教授本科毕业于北京大学(2003年),随后赴美国哥伦比亚大学攻读物理学博士学位(2008年),并在劳伦斯伯克利国家实验室和宾夕法尼亚州立大学进行博士后研究。2012年回国后,曾在华中师范大学担任教授,期间还在法国巴黎综合理工大学从事短期访问研究。现任香港中文大学(深圳)副教授,主要从事理论物理方面的研究和教学工作。
