Description

The Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT) is a  powerful tool to probe systematically the heavy new physics.  Once the constraints on the Wilson coefficients are determined, the corresponding constraints on any BSM model, obtained by matching onto SMEFT, can also be established. However, are indirect constraints on UV models derived from the SMEFT based on the LHC data reliable? In this talk, I will try to answer this question based on a simplified R-parity-violating (RPV) Supersymmetry model, where sbottom is the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP). Based on current measurements of inclusive top-pair events, we conduct a detailed comparison between RPV model and 4-quark operators, analyzing their differential distributions and the resulting constraints. From these comparisons, we try to answer whether the SMEFT can effectively capture the effects of the RPV model at LHC for parameters that lead to measurable effects.
