The discovery of neutrino oscillations reveals that neutrinos are massive and lepton flavor mixing is significant, calling for new physics beyond the Standard Model. The primary goals of next-generation of neutrino oscillation experiments, including JUNO, DUNE and T2HK, are to determine neutrino mass ordering and discover leptonic CP violation. Furthermore, great efforts have been devoted to the experimental search for neutrinoless double-beta decays, which will take place if massive neutrinos are Majorana particles. In combination with ongoing and forthcoming large-scale experiments for precision Higgs physics, lepton flavor violation, ultrahigh-energy cosmic neutrinos, dark matter, cosmic microwave background and large-scale structure of the Universe, neutrino oscillation experiments are promising to shed more light on the origin of neutrino masses and thus the underlying new physics.

As JUNO will be ready for data taking soon in this year, it is the very time for all of us, in particular young students and early-career researchers, to be prepared for the coming new experimental discoveries. For this reason, the Hangzhou Institute for Advanced Studies, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (HIAS), the Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) of Chinese Academy of Sciences (IHEP), and the China Center for Advanced Science and Technology (CCAST) jointly organize the second JUNO Neutrino Summer School (JNSS). The school will be held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, from August 17 to 24, 2025. Graduate students and high-level undergraduate students interested in neutrino theory and experiments are encouraged to apply.

This year’s JNSS will invite senior experts in relevant cutting-edge research fields to deliver lectures. The topics will include but not be limited to reactor and accelerator neutrino experiments, atmospheric and solar neutrino experiments, the Standard Model and beyond, phenomenology of neutrino oscillations, neutrino mass models, neutrinoless double-beta decays, neutrino astronomy and cosmology, and AI for particle physics.

Registration Fees: 1000 CNY for graduate students. Senior undergraduate students who have difficulties in paying the registration fees may apply for a waiver.

Application materials: One completed application form (see the attachment on this webpage, converted to pdf format) + one letter of recommendation (pdf format). These two documents should be merged into one single pdf file with the name in the format of "Name_institution_grade.pdf" (e.g. Zhang SAN_PKU_first-year graduate student.pdf) and sent to the email address: SLXY@ucas.ac.cn
