Visa Information

We encourage you to read the following to check whether you need a visa or not to visit Beijing for the 17th International Conference on Heavy Quarks and Leptons.

Please also note that we will NOT provide any invitation letter for the accompanying person according to related regulatiions. The accompanying person should apply for a tourism vias if needed.


Visa Policy

(1)  [Unilaterl visa-free policy]  Citizens of 43 countries with valid ordinary passports can be exempted from visa for a stay with no more than 30 days. It is recommended to take documents such as invitation letters, air tickets and reservations of accommodation as a proof corresponding to the purposes of entry into China. Please click HERE to check.

(2)  [Visa-free transit policy]  Citizens from 54 eligible countries, may enter visa-free from Beijing international airports (and many other ports) with valid international travel documents and INTERLINE PASSENGER TICKETS with specified dates and seats when traveling from China to a third country (region), and stay within Beijing (and many other allowed areas) for visa-free transit travelers for no more than 240 hours. (3)  [Bilaterl visa-free policy]  Citizen from Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Serbia, Singapore, or Thailand, et al with valid ordinary passports are also exempted from visa for a stay with no more than 30 days. Please contact the relevant visa center (https://www.visaforchina.cn/) to confirm if you are unsure about this kind of visa exemption.

(4)  [Visa needed]  For all other cases, a visa is needed to enter China. Generally, an L visa (for tourism et al.) should be sufficient for you to attend the conference and may not require an invitation letter. However, if you need to apply for an F visa (for academic exchange et al.), for which typically an invitation letter is needed, please sent an email to us (yangluping@pku.edu.cn) with the following information for preparing an invitation letter for you.
