Description
Abstract: "In the past 50 years, calorimeters have become one of the most important detectors in many particle physics experiments, especially those at colliding-beam accelerators at the energy frontier. Simultaneous detection of the Cherenkov light and scintillation light produced in hadron showers can significantly improve measure the hadronic performance of these detectors by the measuring electromagnetic shower fraction event by event. I will present the latest results of the tests of a dual-readout fiber calorimeter with electrons and hadrons, as well as a comparison with GEANT4 simulations. I will also discuss the application of this technique to hermetic calorimeters at colliding-beam experiments" Speaker: Dr. Michele Cascella (University College London )
