Review of the CEPC Conceptual Design Report
June 28-30, 2018, IHEP, Beijing, China
Charge
The Institute of High Energy Physics (IHEP) in collaboration with a number of other institutions, domestic and international, has produced a draft Conceptual Design Report (CDR) for the Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC). The International Review Committee, chaired by Prof. Katsunobu Oide (CERN/KEK), is asked to review this CDR draft. The Committee is specifically asked to review and comment on the following aspects:
- Are the design goals well defined? Have the goals been reached in the CDR?
- Are the accelerator physics issues adequately addressed?
- Are the designs of the technical systems, conventional facilities and civil engineering effective for achieving the performance goals?
- What are the primary technical risks and their potential impacts on the CEPC? What are the mitigation measures that should be taken?
- How can the design be improved?
- Is the R&D program clearly defined and is it adequate?
- Does the CDR identify a site where the CEPC can be realized?
A draft of the CDR will be made available to the Committee during the review. The Review Committee is invited to make comments or suggestions on any aspect of the CDR beyond those specifically outlined in this charge.
