Recent Results from the NOvA experiment

Abstract: NOvA is a long-baseline accelerator-based neutrino oscillation experiment in the US that is optimized for nu_e appearance measurements. It uses an upgraded NuMI neutrino beam at Fermilab and a 14-kton far detector in Ash River, Minnesota. NOvA primarily aims to resolve the neutrino mass ordering problem and constrain the CP-violating phase and determine the octant of theta23. This talk will report the latest results from NOvA with the first antineutrino data. The (anti-)nu_mu disappearance and (anti-)nu_e appearance combined results favor a normal neutrino mass hierarchy. 报告人简介: 边渐鸣 教授, 北京大学物理系本科,中科院高能物理研究所博士,现为美国加州大学欧文分校tenure-track助理教授。主要研究兴趣为中微子振荡实验。参加美国长基线中微子实验NOvA,下一代长基线中微子实验DUNE以及日本超级神冈实验。研究课题包括中微子振荡物理,深度学习和新统计技术在中微子实验中的应用,和液氩时间投影室的技术研发等。对NOvA实验的电子中微子震荡结果做出过主要贡献。目前担任NOvA合作组重建/深度学习组组长,DUNE合作组监测设备组组长和speaker committee成员,ProtoDUNE实验液氩纯度探测系统负责人。是Physical Review D,中国物理C 和International Journal of Modern Physics A 等杂志的评审。 加入加州大学欧文分校前,曾在北京谱仪上进行过粲偶素物理和新型强子态寻找等研究。在北京谱仪上发现新中性四夸克态Zc(3900)^0,psip->pi0 hc的绝对分支比测量等研究中作出过主要贡献。因对BESIII首批物理成果的贡献,曾获中国高能物理学会晨光杯一等奖。
