Relevance of electroweak corrections in precision observables at the LHC

Description
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN has entered into the precision phase. It is thus crucial that theoretical predictions keep pace with precision of (existing, ongoing and prospective) measurements at the LHC in order to fully exploit the potential of the machine. Electroweak (EW) corrections are widely acknowledged as the same order as NNLO QCD corrections in numerical sizes. They are of particular importance in events from the high-energy collisions due to the so-called EW Sudakov logarithms. In this talk, I will discuss the theoretical issues and progress of EW corrections from the general perspective, and highlight the phenomenological implications for the LHC physics.
CV:
Hua-Sheng Shao is a permanent CNRS researcher at the LPTHE in Paris. He obtained his PhD at Peking University in 2014, and was a postdoc at CERN (2014-2017) and at the LPTHE (2017-2017). His research interests focus on the LHC physics in general. Concretely, the topics cover precision calculations in perturbation theory, quarkonium physics, Higgs physics and beyond the standard model phenomenology.
