Description

Title: General-purpose spectrometer with polarimeter function

Abstract: In nuclear and particle physics, large-acceptance general-purpose spectrometers are widely used to measure the four-momenta of stable final-state particles, such as electrons, muons, pions, kaons, protons, and photons. Typically, the spin polarization of these particles is not measured. In this talk, a novel detector integration technique will be discussed, specifically designed to detect the spin polarization of protons and photons. The validation and application of this technique, based on BESIII data, will be demonstrated. In addition, its prospective application at the HIAF facility will also be outlined.

Brief introduction about the speaker:
Dr. Yutie Liang is researcher at the Institute of Modern Physics (IMP), Chinese Academy of Sciences. He earned his Ph.D from Peking University in 2009 and worked as postdoctoral researcher at Giessen University before joining IMP in 2018. His research focus on experimental hadron and high energy nuclear physics, with recent emphasis on detector technologies with spin polarization measurement.
