Abstract: Discovering phase transitions between the hottest and densest forms of matter in a laboratory is the challenge that heavy-ion collision experiments are taking on in the BES program at RHIC. One of the intriguing open questions is the existence and the location of the QCD critical point. The search for the critical point in heavy-ion collisions requires theoretical description of the fully relativistic dynamics of fluctuations in general and of critical fluctuations in particular. I shall describe recent developments in the theoretical formalism needed to achieves this goal.
