I illustrate recent findings regarding the structure of linear power corrections to shape variables in e+e- annihilation. These new finding hint at the possibility to estimate linear power correction directly in the three jet region, rather than extrapolating them from the two jet region. Some prospect for the measurement of alpha_S from shape variables at future e+e- colliders are discussed.
